The machine follows the digital design sent to it. As the ink is applied, UV light cures it almost immediately.

After you place the bottle in the printer, it starts working. At any stage, if you want to change the design, you just update the digital file instead of making a new screen. Because of this, it works best for small to medium production volumes.

On the other hand, with screen printing, you first have to prepare a screen for the design. If the design has several colors, you will need several screens. Bottle placement also needs careful attention. This takes more time initially, but once everything is set up, you can create many prints quickly.

When a bottle goes through many harsh conditions, it is picked up many times, placed on tables, rubbed against other items, or washed after use. That’s where print durability comes in. In this case, screen printing generally has an advantage. It leaves a thicker layer of ink on the bottle. This gives the printed design good resistance to normal rubbing and handling. UV prints are also durable, but that totally depends on ink type and bottle surface. If the bottle has to handle constant rubbing and washing, it needs surface treatment first.

UV prints resist these factors, but the result depends more on the ink. Often, you need special surface treatment to ensure this resistance. On the other hand, screen prints naturally resist chemicals, scratches, and rubbing. Prints also don’t fade quickly, even after contrast washes. This is because of thick ink layers. Remember, screen prints on bottles last for years without losing their vibrancy and sharpness. Additionally, these prints are resistant to scratches.

Screen printing is a more expensive printing method than UV printing. Why? This printing method requires initial setup and equipment. Setup costs can be high, especially when you need to make prints in multiple colors. However, for high-volume production, this cost is spread across more bottles. This lowers the cost per bottle. 

On the other hand, UV printing is a cost-effective option for creating high-quality prints on bottles. This method does not require advanced setup such as a stencil, mesh screen, and so on. I recommend UV printing for smaller production runs. When it comes to applications, these two printing methods differ.
